Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
Salary Range
$111,600.00 - $184,200.00

What Is the Opportunity?
Travelers is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer, DBA to join our Infrastructure & Cloud Services – Performance & Data Engineering organization. Under general supervision, plans at an operational level designing and developing databases interfacing with appropriate customers, management and technical resources. Facilitates and/or participates in the design, development, and implementation of large, complex database systems supporting one or more business and/or technology areas. Develops, manages and implements appropriate solutions that may involve multiple platforms, databases, software/hardware, technologies and tools. Strong ability to multi-task in an environment of changing priorities. May direct project staff in the development and implementation of database systems in support of business requirements.
The work arrangement for this position is based on location.

What Is the Opportunity?

What Will You Do?
- Provide technical leadership and operational support for our Teradata and Snowflake environments.
- Collaborate with end users to resolve issues.
- Complete user requests and ServiceNow tasks in a timely manner.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide off-hour support.
- Prioritize work and manage projects within established budget objectives and customer priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
- Bachelors degree preferred in in Technology or a similar field (or equivalent experience)
- Snowflake certification preferred
Technical Knowledge:
- Teradata Specific:
- In-depth knowledge of Teradata architecture and operation.
- Proficient in Teradata SQL, BTEQ scripting, and Teradata utilities (FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPT, FastExport).
- Experience with Teradata performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with Teradata tools such as Teradata Studio and Viewpoint
- Familiar with Teradata Backup and Restore processes
- Knowledge of Teradata security features and user management.
- Experience in data migration and ETL processes involving Teradata.
- Snowflake Specific:
- Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture and operation.
- Proficient in Snowflake SQL and understanding of its unique features.
- Solid understanding of Snowflake features: Cloning, Data Sharing, Secure Views, caching, Warehouse sizes, and scaling.
- Experience with Snowflake data loading and unloading processes.
- Familiarity with Snowflake's security features and role-based access control.
- Knowledge of integrating Snowflake with various data sources and BI tools.
- General:
- Strong relational database and SQL skills.
- Thorough working knowledge of all tools and techniques required for area(s) of responsibility.
- Understanding of the business that the assigned projects are supporting.
