Job Description
The Underwriting family makes business decisions for a line of insurance or defined marketplace which appropriately considers product, pricing and risk management levers. They assess and determine appropriate risk selection based on both countrywide and regional direction. They work with Field, Home Office, State and Line Management teams to execute appropriate strategies/process to achieve growth and profitability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Proactively identify and share opportunities for integration, continuous improvement, and change management based on observations and operational experience
• Develops and drives division strategy to achieve corporate and departmental goals while maintaining compliance of company policies, procedures and reporting requirements
• Oversees the technology and information systems that support/impact Risk Management processes and activities. Ensures that Risk Management processes are supportive of customer needs
• Analyzes, measures, conducts and communicates trend analysis to identify opportunities for improvement
• Leads and participates in projects requiring the coordination of multiple resources
• Develops and implements tactics to support financial impact initiatives (unit cost management)
• Analyzes, collaborates and executes modifications to process or procedures, as appropriate
• Monitors management reports to evaluate progress towards department goals
• Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills to motivate employees, compose memos and reports, participate in process improvement, and facilitate resolution of problems
• Oversight of exempt and non-exempt employees including the following: onboarding new employees, salary administration, performance management, and employee development and succession
Education
• 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)
Experience
• 5 or more years of experience (Preferred)
Supervisory Responsibilities
• This job has supervisory duties.
Education & Experience (in lieu)
• In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Compensation
Base compensation offered for this role is $69,200-$111,450 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
*** Total compensation for this role is comprised of several factors, including the base compensation outlined above, plus incentive pay (i.e. commission, bonus, etc.) as applicable for the role
